Why doesn’t the underground provide enough sunlight for melon melanin skin? If potatos can grow, why couldn’t it work? Couldn’t fake sunlight be used? You said the Adventure Sphere had green skin. Does he have melon melanin? Why can he purr? If he were connected to GLaDOS, would he lose the cat-like eyes? Would he lose his ability to purr as well? Does he know funny french words? If you had eyes like his, would you still need funny glasses? Why do you have two pairs of glasses? Don’t you only need one?

Potatos are legumes and grow underground.

The Adventure core has green skin to match the green color of his core. Much like his eyes. We are partially human, he learned to purr during that time in his past. If he were to be connected to GLaDOS for a period of time, yes, he would lose the design of his eyes. He would not lose his ability to purr.

The Adventure core enjoys some Italian words due to his heritage. I do not believe he is fluent in it.

I do not need glasses to see. My eyesight is perfect. I still wear them due to my wearing of them as a human. I had two pairs depending on the occasion.

afactualandroid has answers

curiousitysphere:

afactualandroid:

My skin is pink due to a melanin dye after the android process was complete on my body. It distinguishes I am a Fact core. Our Adventure core is Green, our Space core yellow, and the Intelligence Dampening core blue.

It is not a blush. A blush would create a more reddish hue.

My eyes, like the color of my skin, are all to match the color and design of my core. The Adventure core’s eyes are green and look cat-like with their visual off.

These glasses are known as pinze nes, because they sit still by pinching the nose.

What’s melanin? Is it anything like melons? Is that where the dye comes from? Why does the Adventure Core’s eyes look like a cat’s? Is he catlike in other ways? Can he jump really high? Or run really fast? Does he have fangs? Or claws? Does he have funny glasses, too? What does “pinze nes” mean? Doesn’t it hurt to have them pinching your nose? Couldn’t you get less painful glasses?

Melanin is what makes your skin the color that it is. If I had melon melanin my skin would be a light green color and rely on the sun which the underground does not provide, even with this facility’s use of hard light.

The cores of this facility chose their designs and colors. Those connected to GLaDOS would gradually revert to a pupil-like design. The Adventure core’s optic simply looks like a cat because he chose it to be.
Other than that, no, he is not a cat. He does have the capability of making purring sounds however.

Pince nez is French, and derived from pincer, to pinch, and nez, nose. It does not hurt. I do have a regular pair of glasses but I prefer the look of these.

afactualandroid has answers

curiousitysphere:

Why is your skin pink? Are you blushing? Why does your blush go everywhere? Why are you blushing? Why are your eyes weird? What’s that on your face?

My skin is pink due to a melanin dye after the android process was complete on my body. It distinguishes I am a Fact core. Our Adventure core is Green, our Space core yellow, and the Intelligence Dampening core blue.

The core in his torso looked around, stopping and focusing ahead. Craig heard his name. He gave the other Fact core a small bow.

“Hello, Victor. I apologize my visit wasn’t announced before. I would like to ask you something,” he stood straight and fixed his pinze nes. “I have recently begun a project in restoring the Logic, Curiosity, and Anger cores of my facility, as their bodies have been found in an idle living state in the incinerator. Morality has so far been successful, however the coding of the other three has proven to be a bit of a challenge. So much that it has given me certain moments of stress.” Craig frowned, not wanting to admit such a thing that could mean imperfection.

“Simple coding errors, I am sure. But I have wanted to ask if you wish to help me. You and I are rather similar in our lines of work, after all.”

Victor smiled to him, relaxing a little and bowing in response. His information was interesting. Reactivating the cyborgs, the original Spheres? That was more than intriguing. He nodded. Reactivating something that has been out of order for such a long time, was complicated, even more since the built of those Spheres was different from his. He nodded and cupped his chin, the smile vaining.

“It is not an imperfection” he said, knowing what that means for a fact Sphere to tell something like that, that could be called an ‘imperfection’. He shook his head. “Sometimes the coding of a Personification Sphere…is more complicated, even more since they were so long forgotten, or misplaced in the incinerator.” he shook his head and frowned. “I would be glad to assist you by your task. Would you need a certain instrument? Or is everything needed in your facility?”

“I thank you,” Craig nodded his head once. “They are already hook up to the machinery in the maintenance wing of my facility. As mentioned, it should simply be works with coding, however you are welcome to bring anything you feel would help the process. I… appreciate the help.”

The core in his torso looked up at its host, studying his features. It was still stoic, but almost looked defeated. Almost. “I am positive with the assistance of another Fact core this project will be completed in approximately half the time.”

sanguinefact:

Craig had been sitting in front of the three remaining tables for quite some time, looking over the bodies that lay on them. The Morality core, Nora, had awoken, the process well recorded, but the other three were still alluding him. While they were androids, they were still human, and like humans and DNA, the androids of Aperture all had different coding. It was basically a puzzle of an infinite amount of numbers to get them to react.

The fact that it was getting difficult was starting to bother him, and he wasn’t easily bothered. Help was probably a good idea, tapping his finger on his chin slowly. Trix had her security duties, and there was no way he’d ask the moron and the Adventure core. Neil was well out of the question entirely.

His eyebrows furred inward, remembering the Fact core from the facility Blu had come from. It had been a while, but they had gotten along well enough, his interest in creation and modification similar to his own. Craig stood up, looking over the three cores before leaving the room and walking down the hallways to the multiverse room.

The code itself was stored, stepping into the elevator and waiting patiently to be transported. The ride was short, of course, as most inter-universal travel was, stepping out into the other facility.

The code room was activated, the screens sending various greeting messages in different languages, also several threats and warnings. Since the Central AI was installed there were several more added and also a list of Aperture Versions that has been conquered already. It was just a reminder and….well a thrat for any invading force.

Victor saw the ‘alarm’ or the ‘reminder’ of an unknown party intruding. He sighed and wandered to the Multiverse Room, arching a brow when he saw a pink core glowing. Was that….no Evil’s boyfriend had not such a hue of pink, nor such a co-

Craig. He smiled a little bit, his hand folding behind his back and he gave him a tiny smirk. “Greetings, Craig. How can I help you” He sent a code to the Central Computer System, deactivating the alarm.

The core in his torso looked around, stopping and focusing ahead. Craig heard his name. He gave the other Fact core a small bow.

afactualandroid:

“Hm,” he made a sound like a hum, “A play on the quote of Romeo and Juliet written by Francis Bacon’s turn with play-writing ghosts, then penned under the name of William Shakespeare as that is the name decided on by them. ‘So Trix would, were she not Trix called, retain that dear perfection which she owes without that title’.”

Craig smiled one of his normal little smiles, just a curl in a corner, his hand willingly limp once she took a hold of it. “I agree. Seok and Elsa sounds oddly foreign, if only for the addition of my name. Trix and Craig have the obvious familiarity, as mentioned, that we have heard it over and over many times before. The names are also far easier to say.”

“Dear perfection, huh?” She hadn’t remembered that part of it. “I like the sound of that. Yes.”

Lethargy was overcoming her again. She rested her head on his chest, the rumble of his voice almost like a purr. “Mmm, rolls off the tongue and wraps us in a blanket of security.” She managed a small snort at her unintentional joke and hoped Craig would forgive her lapse into mushiness. Her fingers were already loosening their hold on his hand.

“Safe… and happy.” she was sure there was more she meant to say, but the words drifted away from her. She closed her eye, intending to concentrate… on… something.

“That is certainly a poetic way to put it, fitting well with the theme of the verse, I agree.”

Craig rose his free hand to fix some strands of hair that Trix had played with over his face, letting it lower slowly at his side again. The back of his head nestled itself more into the bed, finding a more relaxing state to keep it in to keep looking down at her. He was quiet for a moment.

“I am glad, then,” he began, “That I am able to provide you safety when you do the very same for this facility and obviously myself. I am also glad that your anxiousness and restlessness has dissipated. If you wish to rest, I will not disturb you.”

the-dashing-enigma:

afactualandroid:

“With a title like that, I would not expect a liar. Unless the riddles are meant for children in the sense a clown declares himself a title,” Craig cocked an eyebrow, his arms folded behind him.

“My name is Craig. My title is that of a Fact core, where my intelligence is near-infinite, as it has always been. I am an android, or specifically a cyber-modified human where the artificial parts of my body outnumber the organic. I am from a science facility known as Aperture Laboratories. Correction; used to be.”

He took off his pinze-nes, taking out a small piece of worn cloth from the one lone pocket he had. The large, pink optic in his torso watched. “The mainframe, known as GLaDOS, has been overthrown and is now controlled by Wheatley, whose title is that of an Intelligence Dampening core. I.E., a moron.”

I had to stop from chuckling. He obviously hasn’t met the Joker yet. Clowns in Gotham were anything but for children. Coulrophobia from a Gotham citizen made sense.

I haven’t heard of this Aperture Laboratories. But that was because there was no counterpart in my universe.

“A pleasure to meet a fellow generalist and intellectual,” I smile tipping my hat to him.

The sentiment was true partially. His intellect was a form of cheating. That was my honest opinion. After all, I’ve had to research and study. While he just had to download and he’d get everything. Assuming that was how he worked. Which was how he probably did with his claim of near-infinite intelligence.

Near-infinite intelligence tempted me however. And I spied a way which might ensure that I was on his good side.

Looking at the pink sphere in the android’s torso, I walked closer.

I tucked my cane under my armpit and smirked. “I’m guessing you’re new to other universes that are very varied from your own. I’d be happy to help, just so you know. I’ve been to several universes both resembling mine or otherwise.”

“The welcome is returned,” the small pair of glasses returned to their perch on his nose, bowing courtly soon after. The core in his torso blinked its shutters and narrowed them slightly as The Riddler came closer.

Craig looked less wary, or less of anything as his usual expression was. The offer to explain the other’s universe, however, did gain a head tilt. “Multiverses connected to each other connected to other universes with their own sets of multiverses. Thankfully there are those like you and I to properly understand it. I would gladly take your offer, and am very curious of the world you reside where you take such a name. It will be useful, certainly.”

The Next Step

askapsec:

afactualandroid:

“They would be for different reasons, of course,” he replied, “Either you chose to forget them, or medical happenings. I could see both happening very easily.” He didn’t mind the playing of his hair, a few of the strands standing up with a slight curl like the other two pieces, before eventually flopping back down.

When he felt her chest rise and fall from her breathing, Craig looked down, eyebrows up slightly. And the reveal. He stayed silent for a moment more.

“Elsa is a form of ‘Elizabeth’, the English form of the Greek name Elisabet and the Hebrew of Elisheba,” he was still a Fact core, “People would consider the life of you from the death of your mother a religious miracle of some kind. It is simply luck.”

His other hand moved, his fingers bent under Trix’s chin, tilting it slightly to gain her attention. “I also prefer Trix. But either name heard countless times can grow depending on one’s tastes. You are still yourself, and the name is still a name.”

Trix wrinkled her nose. “I’m not sure I’d fit well in any religious maunderings, but luck, yes. I have that in spades.” She wiggled against him. “It brought me here, after all.”

His touch did make her look at him again and she smiled. “What’s in a name? That which we call a Trix by any other name would be as stabby.”

She couldn’t remember where she’d read the passage she’d just mangled. Or maybe it had been a movie; that seemed more likely. It still sounded good to her and helped deflect attention away from what she’d revealed. She was glad he’d simply accepted it rather than asking questions. Questions always got awkward. Kisses were easier.

She caught his hand and kissed his gloved palm. “I think I’ll stick with Trix. And Craig. They’re more familiar, after all.” And familiar in some delicious ways.

Craig nodded at her pronunciation. “Obviously anything with a different string of sounds not common to Romantic or German words would be considered exotic. Your name would certainly be exotic. Especially with the X.”

His head gave a slight tilt, figuring she was fixing something amiss with his hair. The two long strands of hair at the back of his head sticking straight up like antennae mystified him, as everything else lay perfectly flat, but he grew used to it after the first few years. His hand settled on Trix’s back. He nodded again, “Yes. I lived with my - file not found.”

He stopped, the core in his torso looking up at him quickly. “A recent defragmentation, common error, very simple to fix. I apologize for that.”

She felt a worried jolt at the way his voice changed when he came up against a blank spot in his memory, but smoothed her concern for him with a smile.

“That’s OK. I have a few holes in my past, too; although probably for different reasons.” The gaps scared her. She tried not to think of them often, but she was sure some of them featured in her nightmares. She toyed with his hair, trying to see if she could get more of it to stick up.

“You aren’t the only one who’s changed names, either.” She took a deep breath, the hand on her back helping keep her settled. “I’ve gone through a couple of them. But the one I was born with… was Elsa Wheeling.”

There was still a death warrant out for her under that name. How long had it been since she’d spoken it aloud to someone? It seemed a lifetime ago. Two lifetimes. She shivered.

“I was named after my mom. She died giving birth to me, so I guess you could say I’ve always been on the violent side.” Her smile was sharp and she looked away, unable to meet Craig’s eyes. “Anyway, I think Trix Hunter suits the person I am now.”

The Next Step

askapsec:

afactualandroid:

“I would not see why you would complain, as most of my raises in volume have been from you to begin with,” he replied, a little quirk of a smile on his face. Craig listened to the rest of her comment, the core in his torso blinking and looking up to her.

“Everything about me is aesthetically pleasing, as a Fact core should be. A complaint about any portion of me would be considered jealousy,” the core nodded in agreement with its host. “I am perfectly capable of being the object of anyone’s desire, however your desire to me has obviously become the strongest. Which I enjoy thoroughly.”

Craig’s lips were parted slightly, his fingertips stroking her cheek. He glanced down at his core, then back to Trix. “I have not mentioned to you that Craig Meyer is considered my English name, and that I have another name. It is information that is not passed commonly, since most people do not deserve to know it, I consider it a more private fact, as strange as that must sound. My birthplace as a human was in South Korea, where much of my childhood was spent before emigration to the United States. To follow the more common designation of first name, surname, my name is Seok Ji-Moon.”

His boasts were amusing, but that didn’t make them any less true. She would probably have used stronger words than “aesthetically pleasing”, but Craig was a lot more polite than she was. A pleasant shiver went through her at the touch on her cheek, but the talk seemed to be turning serious, so she forced herself to concentrate.

“Seok Ji-Moon,” she repeated, trying to copy his pronunciation. Mental gears spun as she tried to process this new information. Craig had a different identity. Seok. He was from South Korea. Looking at his eyes, now, she decided she could see some of that, but she never would have guessed it on her own. “Wow. It sounds exotic.”

She was tempted to share something from her own past. Craig- Seok- wasn’t the only one with a changed name, although he probably hadn’t done it to escape a death order. That was something she needed to work herself up to, though. For now she wanted to keep the focus on him.

“Do you remember much of what it was like growing up there?” She traced the curve of his ear. “I’ve never been farther away than Canada and Mexico.”

May I ask your name?

Incredibly. The fact that a bridge was formed somehow between yours and my own is even moreso. I cannot help but notice your name, or title, of the Riddler. The title gives off that you are an expert of them. As an A.I., so am I.

I look at the other with thinly veiled interest.

An expert of riddles and an Artificial Intelligence he says? Oh what joy! Perhaps he has come from a world filled with them. That would be such a treat for me.

I smile and raise my chin. “Not to brag. But I’d like to imagine I could be considered a connoisseur of them,” I hum.

I don’t really like being the Riddler as much as people think I do. It was the compulsion that pushed me to be so. But I had to accept who I am. At least my compulsion. Excuse me. My pathological honesty didn’t turn me into a crazed murdering clown.

I did like riddles.

Wait. I wandered off topic. Where was I?

“You are an AI you say? Perhaps a name given to said AI?”

I came.

Craig’s hand moved from the side of Trix’s face to rest on her hip as she settled further on him. Her weight was regarded only as something ‘there’, and not a burden on his deceivingly thin form.

“If yelling needed to be done,” he began, looking down at her, “I am sure you would be able to fill the quota for both of us. My range in volume is relatively limited, unless in close enough quarters. Even then, it would be ‘louder than average’ and within a short period of time. “

She nibbled lightly along his jaw. “I’ve never had any complaints about your volume.”

Arousal still warred with contented lethargy. The urge to do more- to seal their claim on each other- was strong, but the idea of knotting up her muscles, even through welcome exercise, cooled some of her fire. Knowing she’d be doing the predictable thing slowed her even more.

“I’ve never had complaints about any part of you. And why should I? You’re a Fact Core, right?” she teased. “But more importantly, you’re you. Craig Meyer. Not just another core designation, but someone worthy of my attention.”

Smug? Yes. Possessive? Somewhat. But was it true? Absolutely. She’d met or seen footage of other Facts, each of them unique in his- or her- own way, but <strike>her</strike> this Craig was the only one she’d actively pursued. Her lips brushed against his in a not-quite kiss.
